چکیده

For a perfect network it must have ability to keep all the tasks and services running even when a link or node fails. This feature of any network is usually known as network resilience. The basic working of resilient network is that it can recover from a failure by automatically diverting the traffic from the failed portion of the network to another active part of the network. This process must be fast enough and the interruption of service due to the node failure is unnoticeable to the other part and as tiny as possible. This procedure is known as rerouting and the procedure with the help of which the path is calculated before a failure occurs is known as fast reroute. Now a days, Multi-protocol Label Switching (MPLS) has become main technology for Internet service providers. MPLS has features like ability to perform traffic engineering and providing Quality of Service. Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) fast reroute (FRR) can be defined by various methods for example one-to-one or many-to-one backup. The term Fast Reroute is a shorthand way of describing the various MPLS traffic protection mechanisms. There are many schemes that have been proposed for fast reroutes in MPLS networks. In this paper various MPLS fast reroute schemes are surveyed which have been proposed till now. Keywords— MPLS, recovery, Multicast restoration, fast rerouting

Exploiting enhanced reliability features in MPLS traffic engineered optical speed networks

The demand for multimedia applications along with rapid growth, the need for quality of service, reliability, and resilience have made traffic engineering an essential consideration in the design and operation of large public Internet backbone networks. In order for carriers to minimize the financial impact of inevitable link and network component failures, backbone protection solutions must be...

Leveraging MPLS Fast ReRoute Paths for Distributed Green Traffic Engineering

This paper introduces a new scheme called Green MPLS Fast ReRoute (GMFRR) for enabling energy aware traffic engineering. The scheme intelligently exploits backup label switched paths, originally used for failure protection, in order to achieve energy saving during the normal failure-free operation period. GMFRR works in an online and distributed fashion where each router periodically monitors i...

Fast Reroute In MPLS Network And Design MPLS Network For PTIT

PTIT, Ho Chi Minh 1 This paper presents the ability to quickly reroute traffic around error or congestion in a Label Switched Path (LSP) of MPLS networks. When label switched path established unusable (e.g. due to a physical link or switch failure) data may need to be re-routed over an alternative path. This paper include 5 parts. Part 1 introduce the essential of alternative path in MPLS when ...

Methodology for Benchmarking MPLS Traffic Engineered (MPLS-TE) Fast Reroute Protection

This document describes the methodology for benchmarking MPLS Fast Reroute (FRR) protection mechanisms for link and node protection. This document provides test methodologies and testbed setup for measuring failover times of Fast Reroute techniques while considering factors (such as underlying links) that might impact recovery times for real-time applications bound to MPLS Traffic Engineered (M...

RFC 4561 Definition of RRO Node - Id Sub -

In the context of MPLS TE Fast Reroute, the Merge Point (MP) address is required at the Point of Local Repair (PLR) in order to select a backup tunnel intersecting a fast reroutable Traffic Engineering Label Switched Path (TE LSP) on a downstream Label Switching Router (LSR). However, existing protocol mechanisms are not sufficient to find an MP address in multi-domain routing networks where a ...
